DON’T STAGNATE:

My morning devotion is related to how we must make our personal growth one of our highest priorities. We are either moving forward or backward, stretching or stagnating. When we are in a place of not moving, we lose our influence with others. We all have at least one person who look to us for advice, guidance, and support. Do the place you work call upon your knowledge and skills to help your company succeed? Are you a person in a leadership position, who is considered an original thinker? If you answered yes to these questions, you cannot afford to be in a place of stagnation. If we become stagnated, over time, individuals will move from us and go elsewhere for their needs.

When we think about the word stagnate, it’s a word that means, ‘cease to run or flow’, ‘become stale or foul from standing; such as in a pool of water’. The Lord requires that we move, flow, and stretch ourselves beyond where we are. We should not be in same place we were 5 or 10 years ago. Life does happen, and circumstances occur. However, in those moments, we should press forward one step at a time. We cannot be effective in our homes, our communities, and yes, even in our churches when we take on a mindset of stagnation.

Proverbs 1, verse 5 says, “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.”
