“The people of St. Lucia are caring individuals that believe in extending love to their fellow man. Such is the case of Joseph Louis Sr., who was born in Babonneau, St. Lucia (West Indies). Louis was raised in the church and lived his life practicing the teachings of Jesus the Christ.
One of his favorite scriptures comes from the gospel writer Luke, chapter 12, verse 48b, which reads, “From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded” (NRSV). Scriptures like these are foundational to Louis as he grew up in St. Lucia. Louis modeled these words during his lifetime by giving back to his homeland at every opportunity. He was a humbled man, who never sought recognition for himself, but always sought to thank the Lord for what he had. Louis had a strong faith in the Lord.
Before his passing in 2007, Louis modeled and taught these same Christian principles to his children and grandchildren. As a result of his love for God’s people, the Louis family continues to remember his legacy today. The legacy is simply to give back to the children of St. Lucia.
His daughter Antionette Colbert is collecting non-perishable items for his legacy of Joseph Louis Sr., alive and well.
